The IndividualiTree is, to the best of our knowledge, the only 100% independent NDIS intermediary provider in Armidale and surrounds. We are ‘real’ locals, helping people come up with creative solutions to making the NDIS work for them. The Tree is looking for a Support Coordinator for a 20 hr a week permanent part-time role (after trial period). Though knowing what Support Coordination means, and having an understanding of the NDIS is an advantage, this is not the most important thing we’re looking for.
You will need to be able to prove that you have an amazing ability to relate to people from all walks of life with genuine respect. You will need to show that you can be with people, without judgement, and help them to get the specific things they need in their life as a result of their disability. You will need to be accepting of all people from all backgrounds. You will need to live in Armidale or surrounding areas and you will have a great understanding of what is happening around town.
Lived experience of disability would be a distinct advantage, either as a PWD or family member. You will need to be bold and confident; to advocate politely in difficult situations, as well as be gentle and understanding; to listen to people where communication might be difficult, for a number of reasons. You need to genuinely see all people as your equals and understand how to support people to speak for themselves. You need to be keen to learn. There is always stuff to learn!
The role will be family friendly and have quite a bit of flexibility however committing to the role and being reliably available are not negotiable. The role is PPT, 20hrs per week, paid under the SCHADS award. The rate varies dependent on your skills, qualifications and experience. Flexible working arrangements are possible. You will need to be able to be self directed, ask for guidance if you need it and admit mistakes. You will need a valid working with children check and police check and an insured reliable car.
The role can involve a wide array of tasks, depending on what the people you work for decide is useful. There is an element of record keeping that is required, and the hourly rate reflects the professional requirements of the work. There is admin support, regular supervision and other advice available if you need it. Part of the role will be to facilitate groups, so skills or confidence in this area would be helpful.
