Support Worker (Nursing/Medical): Community/Home – Armidale

A man who uses the NDIS is seeking a worker, for approximately 15 hours each per week, to work with him to access his community, pursue his goals and help him with in home support. You will be part of a team of workers and your contract is with the man and his family directly. He shares a home with his parent and sometimes other family members, you will need to be comfortable in working in this environment.

In this role it is essential that you have a First Aid certificate, Police Check and Medication Competency certificate, or be willing to obtain these quickly. You will be expected to work with the man, his family and the other members of the team to develop a support structure that help him to increase his involvement in the community around him, while also making sure his disability is catered for.

While experience in working with people with disability is not essential, some understanding of working with people on the autism spectrum could be an advantage. Understanding of epilepsy and it’s management would also be helpful. Nursing or medical experience would be an advantage, and international students are encouraged to apply.
