A Port Macquarie family are looking for a home and community support worker for two young NDIS participants. The children are late primary school aged.
This role is shared with another worker, to cover morning shifts from 7 to 9am and afternoon shifts from 4 until 6pm. The family would also like care for one weekend night a month. Depending on the shift the position could include assistance with getting ready for school, travel to activities, help with reading and homework and possibly basic household tasks according to need. The family are looking for a worker to share the shifts over the week with a worker who is already in place, so whilst the hours are set according to family needs, who covers which shifts can be negotiated. It is hoped that the the workers can communicate as a team.
The children have particular interest in art and craft, so someone with an interest in these would be great. The ideal candidate will be someone who is enthusiastic, can work with people with disability and their family respectfully and are sensitive to the needs of people on the autistic spectrum. You will require a registered car, current working with children check and first aid certificate.
The family will not become your employer, you will be an independent contractor with an ABN and appropriate insurance. You manage your own super and tax.
