Community Support – Child – Uralla

A primary aged child in Uralla is looking for a worker for 2 hrs per week (more hours in the holidays) to help them to connect with their community.

You will need a current working with children check, police check, first aid certificate and registered car. Experience working with people with disability is not essential, but experience working with primary aged children would be a distinct advantage.You will be expected to engage with family members and come up with creative ideas to support the child to develop community links. You will be warm and approachable, as well as self directed and professional. 

You can either take on this role as a self employed contractor (meaning you need insurance) or through the Mable online platform. With both options there is the chance for more work with other local NDIS participants.

In home/community Support: Children, Armidale

A number of primary aged children, from different families, who use the NDIS are looking for support workers to assist with their needs. These positions can involve in home care, support in the community or both. You will need a working with children check as is required by Australian law. International and local students are encouraged to apply.

Each of these children have different needs, however experience working with children on the autism spectrum would be highly regarded. Having said that, experience with people with disability is not strictly necessary, we are looking for workers with the right personality and interests to suit each particular child. You need to be calm under pressure, non-judgemental and reliable.

These roles are contract based, meaning you will need an ABN and insurance. The IndividualiTree provides support for contract workers that assist you to meet these requirements if necessary. The rate of pay is much higher than you will earn under an award. Training and other support is also available.

Support Worker – Literacy & Numeracy – Armidale

Are you a person with the skills to help a person to increase their reading and writing skills, while also helping them do their weekly shopping, planning and other tasks? Are you patient and flexible but able to independently guide someone to improving their skills with respect, remembering that the person you are helping is your employer?

We have a role for 3 hours per week working with a person who needs someone with the above skills. Whilst experience working with people with disability might be an advantage, the right attitude is more important. There is lots of opportunity to pick up more work of this type as people grow in confidence as the use the NDIS. Work is generally with individuals or families, in private homes or in the community.

It is important that you are reliable and can commit to the role for at least 12 months.

You will need an ABN, a police check, a comprehensively insured car and be prepared to sign a simple contact with each participant.

 

 

 

Chef/Cooking Support – Armidale

A number of participants are looking for someone with chef or cooking skills to assist them to either learn to cook more interesting meals for themselves, or to prep meals so they can maintain their independence. Between 3 participants, the role is currently around 10 hrs per week and there is a real possibility of an increase in hours over time.

The ideal candidate would have a sound understanding of food safety practices, an ability to adapt recipes and food ideas to suit specific needs and a genuine love of food. You will have patience with people while they are learning, flexibility, be accepting of difference and be reliable and able to commit to the role for a reasonable period of time. You will be able to work with people who might find relating to others challenging at times and be understanding and yet encouraging of people to expand their horizons.

You will also need an ABN, police check and be prepared to sign a simple contact with each participant.
